To preserve the history of transformative fanworks and the fandoms from which they have arisen, OTW is developing its own fandom wiki, Fanlore, in beta as of September, 2008.

The OTW fandom wiki will provide a framework within which fans can document their understandings of and experiences in fandom. This encyclopedic resource will help provide context for outside media and for people new to fandom, in a format wherein fans are in control of their own representation. It will also provide an archive of fandom history for fans themselves.

Authorship of the wiki will be encouraged from any and all fans, with an emphasis on group ownership. The OTW wiki committee will provide support, guidance and encouragement where required; in the early stages this team will develop guidelines for the structure of wiki, soliciting volunteers and feedback from fandom to further the group ownership ideal.

All the content will be under an open-documentation license; anyone will be welcome to make copies to host on other sites. The wiki will also be built with open source software.

In conjunction with the wiki, OTW will also launch an oral history project on vidding in late 2008.
